Facility Short Description:    High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) is a method for physical vapor deposition of films. HIPIMS utilises extremely high power densities (order of kW?cm?2) in short pulses of tens of ms at low duty cycle. Main advantages of HIPIMS are: - great adhesion improvement; - deposition of ultra-dense coatings; - highly controlled microstructures; - increased hardness /elastic modulus; - very smooth surface morphology; uniform properties even on complex shape substrates. High performance HiPIMS coatings can be evaluated for future fission and fusion reactors components.
